Orlando Pirates coach Kjell Jonevret believes that relegation-threatened Baroka deserved to win the match after they were held to a 1-1 draw at the Orlando Stadium on Wednesday evening.
The Buccaneers played to their 13th draw in the Absa Premiership after Issa Sarr scored a stoppage-time goal to cancel Sepana Letsoalo’s 78th-minute opener.
The Swedish coach believes that Baroka should’ve walked away with all three points following their display, but at the same time admitted to his dissatisfaction about his side’s performance on the night.
‘Baroka deserved to win. I’m very disappointed. It’s hard to be happy. This was a golden opportunity for us to move up,’ Jonevret said after the game.
‘It’s difficult to be happy for that point, it was a terrible performance. We have played a few bad halves, but first half today, it looked like we were still in bed, I don’t know what happened.
‘I just said to the coach, we were definitely lucky to get a point from this, they could have scored more than one goal. So I’m very disappointed with the overall performance. But one point, that’s luck.’
The 54-year-old went on to say that goalkeeper Oscarine Masuluke will continue in goal for their upcoming match, despite only keeping six clean sheets in all competitions so far this season.
‘At the moment Siya is the number one keeper. He is the best in training. He will play again on Saturday.’ he added.
‘We have 4 keepers here and they’re all on the same level. I don’t know if it’s good. You’d like to have a number 1, an international.’
Orlando Pirates will be hoping to return to winning ways when they take on Chippa United in the Absa Premiership on Saturday.
The match at the Orlando Stadium kicks off at 20:15.
