Orlando Pirates coach Kjell Jonevret insists his side have to step up their game if they stand any chance of beating relegation-threatened side Chippa United on Saturday.
The Buccaneers recently came back to secure a 1-1 draw with Baroka after a late goal by Issa Sarr cancelled Sepana Letsoalo’s 78th-minute opener at the Orlando Stadium on Wednesday.
The 54-year-old says Pirates have to improve their performance and insists his side can expect a tough encounter against the Chilli Boys when the two sides meet in the Absa Premiership.
‘There was golden opportunity to win a home game here and continue with what we had done for a while now,’ Jonevret told the media after the game.
‘And leave Baroka and a few other teams behind us and try and close the gap with the top eight.
‘We have to step up, Chippa will be well prepared for this fight. And they are slightly better than Baroka.’
The Sea Robbers are currently placed ninth in the Absa Premiership standing with 28 points, and have won just five out of 25 matches played so far this season, while Chippa trails them by four points in 12th place.
Orlando Pirates will be hoping to get back to winning ways when they take on Chippa United in their next Absa Premiership on Saturday.
The match at the Orlando Stadium kicks off at 20:15.
