AmaZulu general manager Lunga Sokhela has confirmed that the club has secured the services of veteran goalkeeper Moeneeb Josephs.
The former Orlando Pirates goalkeeper has fallen down the pecking order at Bidvest Wits, with Darren Keet becoming Gavin Hunt’s No 1.
Josephs has been playing top-flight football since 1997 and has featured for the likes of Ajax Cape Town, Orlando Pirates and Wits. He has also made 22 appearances for Bafana Bafana.
‘We’ve bought Moeneeb from Wits. Next season he will be playing his football here at AmaZulu. We are excited to sign a player of his calibre,’ Sokhela explained.
Josephs, however, will not be guaranteed a starting spot at Usuthu and will face competition from Siyabonga Mbatha and Energy Murambadoro for the No 1 jersey. The club are likely to release Boalefa Pule, who is on loan from SuperSport United.
The 37-year-old will be hoping to turn out against former club Pirates when the two do battle in the MTN8 next season.
