Former Bidvest Wits goalkeeper Darren Keet revealed that he opted against staying in South Africa to look for a new challenge.

The 30-year-old completed a move to Belgian First Division B outfit Oud-Heverlee Leuven after parting ways with Bidvest Wits, despite linked with a move to Kaizer Chiefs.

The Bafana Bafana shot-stopper’s contract with the Clever Boys expired at the end of June and he made it clear that he would like move to Europe for the upcoming season.

Keet has four trophies to his name, winning the Nedbank Cup in 2009/10, the Absa Premiership and MTN8 in 2016/17 and the Telkom Knockout in 2017/18, while also walking away with the Goalkeeper of the Season award in 2017.

‘I have won all the trophies that can be won in my home country… I was looking for a new challenge and I found it at OHL. This club wants to go to the Jupiler Pro League. I want to fight to help achieve that goal,’ keet told his new club’s website.

‘I know OHL quite well, because I played against it a few times when the club was still active at the highest level. I remember OHL as a nice club with enthusiastic supporters who push the players forward especially in home games. During my career I have always played in the first division, but I don’t care in which series I play football – I play every game to win. And like I said, I want to promote with my new club. ‘
