Mamelodi Sundowns captain Hlompho Kekana says he is looking forward to the possibility of partnering with Andile Jali in midfield.

The 33-year-old has been partnered with many players over the years under Pitso Mosimane, including Bongani Zungu and Tiyani Mabunda, but has lost recently been paired up with Oupa Manyisa.

Kekana believes Jali’s quality and vast experience will improve the team, but insists the Brazilians will not be ‘depending on one player’ as they begin their Absa Premiership title defence this weekend.

‘We all know how good Andile is and he will make us better as a team wether it’s me playing with him or someone else,’ Kekana told the Sowetan.

‘I have been fortunate not to be overlooked for a place [in the starting [XI] and that the coach picks me. But at Sundowns we can play with different players and we are not dependent on one person.’

The Bafana Bafana international admits that ‘it’s a scary feeling’ taking on Kaizer Chiefs in their opening PSL fixture after losing star duo Khama Billiat and Percy Tau to Amakhosi and Brighton and Hove Albion respectively.

‘As players we always look forward to playing Chiefs even though it’s a scary feeling,’ he added.

‘We just want to try fit in the new players on how we play. We can be wasteful in front of goals.’
