Mamelodi Sundowns captain Hlompho Kekana has backed Sibusiso Vilakazi to regain the devastating form which saw him clinch the Football of the Year award in 2014.
The former Bidvest Wits man failed to hit the ground running after completing his move to the African champions in a highly-publicised deal. Despite a somewhat disappointing return of seven goals and two assists in 29 appearances in all competitions, Kekana is adamant that the Bafana Bafana international will come good in the new season, after initially struggling to adapt.
‘It’s always the case when you join a team that has done so well,’ he told KickOff.
‘I remember when I joined SuperSport United [in 2008] they had just won the league and it was difficult for me to understand how they play. It took me two weeks to understand.
‘It’s a bit more difficult for him because he found us playing games almost every two days. [But] I am quite confident that when he is fit he can make a big contribution to the team.
‘I am happy we have him in the team and I am confident he will adapt. We are hoping for the best in the coming season,’ he said.
