The chairman of the Premier Soccer League Irvin Khoza has revealed that the league will start as scheduled on 4 August despite the uncertainties surrounding Ajax Cape Town, after the Tendai Ndoro saga.
The Urban Warriors recently won their appeal against advocate William Mokhari’s decision to dock points from the side, due to the ineligible fielding of Ndoro.
As a result of the points deduction, Ajax dropped from the promotion/relegation 15th spot to 16th and were subsequently relegated from the Absa Premiership. But judge Denise Fischer’s decision to set aside the award, saw Ajax reinstated to 15th position and the promotion/play-off results deemed null and void.

This has led to doubts over whether the playoff will need to be replayed and whether the league would then be able to start when scheduled.
After a meeting on Thursday, the league decided that they will be appealing the latest ruling, and have outlined the steps they will take.

‘This will be a two-pronged appeal,’ Khoza told media outlets at a press conference.
‘We will first appeal the matter and go to judge Fisher to request leave for appeal. Should we fail in this regard, we will then go to the FIFA Players Status Committee.

‘A unanimous decision was reached that whatever should happen, the league will kick-off on 4 August,’ concluded Khoza.
