Kaizer Chiefs captain Itumeleng Khune believes that his side have adjusted to Giovanni Solinas’ philosophy after the coach’s late arrival and can challenge for the title.
The Glamour Boys struggled initially under the Italian tactician, failing to win any of their opening five fixtures in the Absa Premiership, while also getting knocked out in the MTN8 semi-finals by SuperSport United.

Solinas, however, has steadied the ship and after extending their winning run to three matches, with a 2-0 win over AmaZulu, Chiefs are beginning to enter the title race.
Khune has admitted that Chiefs have finally adapted to their coach and are ready to have a serious go at winning the title.
‘This team can go as far as becoming champions, but it is still early days for us to start saying that.

‘I am aware of [expectations]. All I am saying is that we did not have a coach when we were preparing for the season and he [Solinas] came in and it took us time to adjust to his philosophy. But now things are starting to gel and we will definitely bounce back in our next matches.
‘I believe the records were saying this is the worst start for a Chiefs team,’ Khune added.
‘The reason we didn’t start well was because it took us time to adjust to the coach’s methods because he missed out on pre-season preparations.
‘We are disappointed that we were knocked out of the MTN8, but we have seen where we lack and we are a team that is tired of being called names. We know what we deserve and where we should be,’ concluded the Bafana Bafana shot-stopper.
