Kaizer Chiefs captain Itumeleng Khune will continue to work hard in the hope of earning another long-term contract with the club.
The 32-year-old’s current contract with the club will reportedly come up for renewal at the end of the 2020-21 season with the club having an option to extend the agreement beyond that.
Recent media reports, though, have suggested that his contract would be up for renewal at the end of this season.
However, the Bafana Bafana star has since put the rumours to bed over his future by declaring that he is looking to sign a long-term deal with the club.
With Chiefs having issued updates on the likes of Daniel Akpeyi, Daniel Cardoso, Bernard Parker and Willard Katsande last month, plenty of speculation went on about Khune’s future.
‘I think the club has clarified that [contract situation]. My contract wasn’t coming to an end this year, so I’m still contracted and I’m still happy,’ Khune told reporters at Amakhosi’s media day.
‘I will work hard to get another long-term contract with the club.’
The Glamour Boys have already tied down Daniel Akpeyi, Daniel Cardoso, Bernard Parker and Willard Katsande to new deals.
