Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune believes that without a combined team effort, he would never have won the Absa Premiership Player of the Month award.
Khune had a run of stellar performances for Amakhosi during the month of August and September, which saw him win the Man of the Match awards for three successive matches – against Cape Town City, Maritzburg United and Golden Arrows respectively.
The Bafana Bafana shot-stopper say he is honoured to have won the award, but he believes that without the combined effort of the team he would never have walked away with the honours.
‘The last time I won this was three seasons ago,’ Khune told his club’s official website.
‘I dedicate this honour to the entire Kaizer Chiefs Family, as without a combined team effort I would never have won this.
‘It’s a motivation to be recognised and it makes every player work harder.
‘However, with every achievement comes responsibility. I look ahead to work hard with the team to win more trophies for the club.’
Khune walked away with R5 000 in prize money for winning the Absa Premiership Player of the Month trophy.
