Kaizer Chiefs coach Steve Komphela has confirmed that defender Ramahlwe Mphahlele is ready and available for selection against former team Mamelodi Sundowns.
The Bafana Bafana international has been nursing a knee injury, with his sole appearance this season coming in the 2-1 loss to SuperSport United in August 2017.
Komphela, however, has confirmed that Mphahlele has returned to training, but says it’s too soon to tell if he will be able to play or not.
‘He is ready. He’s coming from a serious injury set-back. He is in the squad, he could play but I don’t want to give away a lot to Sundowns,’ Komphela said in a press conference.
‘He is training well, but I can’t say if he is going to play or not because Sundowns will play around that.
The former Maritzburg United mentor said he looks forward to the encounter, citing both sides’ form guides.
‘It’s going to be very interesting. Sundowns are doing well, we are also hitting some form. We are getting the goals, and we are scoring.
‘This is a big team. One thing people must not forget, this team is big. We do not get surprised by a positive run, but we just get angry when it’s not coming. So, that’s when we are wining.
‘To us it’s not normal. The only thing is when we draw because that to us is a loss then we get a bit edgy. But a win is a win. A win is normal at Chiefs, it’s what we get paid for,’ he concluded.
The two sides face off at the FNB Stadium with kickoff set for 20:15.
