Kaizer Chiefs coach Steve Komphela believes his side have now turned the corner after securing their first win of the season in the Premiership.
The Amakhosi edged promoted side Highlands Park on Wednesday evening to secure their first win from their last eight competitive matches and the coach now believes his side can build on that result.
‘The win at Highlands Park is a good tonic for improving our performances,’ Komphela told the Chiefs website. ‘From here on we have to further improve and be consistent. We are winners, however, we remain humble irrespective of the win. We know where we want to get to.’
Komphela admitted he was relieved to have brought some joy to the club’s supporters and insists the side are back on the right track. He also believes the win will inspire confidence among his troops and that a positive result will breed continued improvement.
‘We are also polishing the selection. Once we hit a consistent selection, we will get to perfect the type of play we desire,’ he explained. ‘I am proud of the lads. They show commitment and this augurs well for the future,’ Komphela concluded.
Chiefs are next in action when they host Maritzburg United at the FNB Stadium on Saturday.
The fixture will get underway 18:00.
