Kaizer Chiefs coach Steve Komphela believes Gustavo Paez can be of great value to the Glamour Boys in the final third this season.
The Venezuelan striker was signed by the Glamour Boys earlier this week on a two-and-half-year deal with the club as they look to bolster their striking options.
Defender Lorenzo Gordinho and midfielder George Lebese lead the way in terms of league goals this season with both players scoring three goals. Last season, midfielder Willard Katsande was the top scorer for Amakhosi with seven strikes.
Komphela will now look to unleash the 26-year-old on local defences after he impressed the club’s technical team on trial recently.
The Amakhosi coach says that Paez will be a valuable resource to the club in terms of adding to their attacking presence.
‘Gustavo is not the solution to our goalscoring problems,’ Komphela told the Kaizer Chiefs website.
‘But he will help solve our lack of finishing. Let’s hope he will not be too much pressured and that he gets time to settle.’
Paez will don the number 28 jersey.
When the PSL returns, Chiefs host Free State Stars at the FNB Stadium with kick-off set for 19:30.
