Steve Komphela has resigned from Bloemfontein Celtic, and only a few hours later it was confirmed that he has now joined Golden Arrows.

Komphela’s agent at QT Sports‚ Basia Michels‚ confirmed on Friday that the former Kaizer Chiefs coach stepped away from Celtic due to the uncertainty around the clubs financial stability.

‘We all know the problems (the financial crisis) that Celtic has been facing and Steve’s departure was as a result of that’‚ said Michels.

‘His leaving Celtic has got nothing to do with the results, as we know how good he’s performed his duties there,’ added Komphela’s agent.

Arrows, who confirmed on Thursday that they had parted ways with Clinton Larsen, revealed via their twitter account on Friday that the former Maritzburg United manager had joined the club.

‘Get your dictionaries out!! Class is in session. We can now confirm that we have appointed Steve Komphela as our new head coach. We welcome him and look forward to the remainder of the season,’ read the cheeky tweet.

Komphlea will take charge of an Arrows outfit that currently sits in 11th place on the Absa Premiership standings with 16 points after 15 matches.

The former Amakhosi manager, who had an impressive start to the season with Celtic, will now be tasked with guiding the KZN-based club into the top eight.

Komphela’s first match will be against his former side Maritzburg United at Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium on 6 January.
