Kaizer Chiefs coach Steve Komphela felt his side deserved maximum points against AmaZulu in their Absa Premiership clash on Wednesday evening.

Chiefs were arguably the more fortunate of the two sides to escape unscathed after a man-of-the-match display by Itumeleng Khune, which saw the goalkeeper make an array of saves including a goal line clearance and a saved penalty.

‘We would have preferred the three points but there’s nothing we can do. I felt both set of players had a good game, it was not an easy game to watch,’ Komphela said in post-match comments.

‘Most of the times when we enter matches of this calibre we normally tell referees that be careful the surface is slippery, sometimes the ball skies or the players look like they are going into tackles.

‘I was just afraid that we stand on the same level because sometimes it spoils the game.

‘I thought there should have been a red card [for a tackle] on [Bernard] Parker although I don’t like to comment on how the referees go about their business. In as much as they had a penalty and a couple of threatening moments I thought we could have won it as well.

‘From a tactical approach Cavin did well. They were looking to press us so we don’t play, under the conditions their pressing did work, we just needed to break the first line of pressing, which we did through Parker and Philani [Zulu] but we needed to be more consistent. It has to be better,’ he concluded.
