Kaizer Chiefs coach Steve Komphela believes his side dug deep to claim a 2-1 victory over Maritzburg United at the Harry Gwala Stadium on Saturday.

The Glamour Boys are currently place second in the Absa Premiership standings with 30 points and have won eight out of 17 matches played so far this season.

Komphela believes his side remained focused and were rewarded with two goals but he believes there is still room for improvement in his side’s performance.

‘We dug deep and worked hard to score two goals and win the match,’ Komphela told the Kaizer Chiefs website.

‘The players are focused. It is nice to see your experienced players leading from the front. Willard Katsande and Siphiwe Tshabalala are showing a rich vein of form and that’s good for the team. I am delighted with the win and applaud the players for showing this level of consistency.

‘We just want to keep growing and growing, and, growth is not only technical, it is also about confidence. All we want is to win every match.’

The 49-year-old believes his side are solely focused on improving their performance, having gone unbeaten in five matches respectively.

‘We are running our own race. We are looking only at the matches that we have to play and not on how other teams are playing,’ He added.
