The 28-year-old joined Sundowns in July 2018 from Cape Town City, where he scored two goals and assisted seven goals from 36 appearances across all competitions during his time with the Citizens.
Since joining Sundowns, Lakay has so far enjoyed a decent spell under coach Pitso Mosimane and managed to feature 65 times, while bagging three goals and eight assists in the process.
In a Q&A segment with Sundowns called ‘Stay Home With Downs’, Lakay highlights his most memorable moment in the Brazilian colours.
‘My highlight from last year has to be winning the league. It was my first league win and in my first season with Sundowns, so that has to be the highlight of last season,’ Lakay told his club’s official YouTube channel.
The Cape Town-born attacker is a regular starter for Sundowns in the Caf Champions League and has singled out which country he enjoys visiting while on the road with the Brazilians.
‘My favourite country is Morocco because of the atmosphere, whenever we play away and I think we’ve played their the most in the last three or four years,’ he added.
‘I think every season we get them in the group stages or in the semi-finals [of the Caf Champions League], but like I said the atmosphere is great and also the diehard supporters.’
