SuperSport United midfielder Fagrie Lakay is set to join Absa Premiership rivals Bidvest Wits.
It was reported earlier that Matsatsantsa could lose the the 21-year-old, who has six months left on his contract at the Tshwane giants.
Lakay has struggled to cement a regular starting berth at United this season, after spending a period on loan to Ajax Cape Town last season.
SuperSport CEO Stan Matthews confirmed that Lakay has agreed a deal in principle and will join the club on his return to Wits from overseas.
‘I have agreed terms with Jose Ferreira (Wits’ CEO). We’ve agreed in principle, and Fagrie will be moving to Bidvest Wits at the end of this transfer window,’ Matthews said.
‘He will sign when I get back from overseas. He was also on his last six months of his contract.’
The Clever Boys currently occupy top spot in the Absa Premiership standings with 33 points, two points clear of second place Orlando Pirates.
Wits have already confirmed the signings of Brandon Petersen, Prince Nxumalo and Sinethemba Jantjie on pre-contracts. They will join the club at the end of the 2018-19 season.
