Golden Arrows coach Clinton Larsen believes individual errors were the cause of their 5-2 defeat against SuperSport United on Wednesday.

Abafana Bes’thende are currently placed eighth in the Absa Premiership standings with 20 points and have only won five out of 16 matches played this season.

The 45-year-old says that his side created good scoring opportunities in the first half, but admits they were undone after conceding two goals early in the second of the match.

‘After starting the game so well and creating three to four good scoring chances in the 1st half, all our hard work was undone by some shambolik defending in the 2nd half,’ Larsen told the Golden Arrows website.

‘Fikizolo, Msowoya, and Mutizwa all came close to scoring in the first half, but we went into the break with a nil-all score. We lost the match as a contest inside the first 3 mins of the restart as we conceded two quick goals and from there on our backs were against the wall.

Larsen says his side showed a real fighting spirit against SuperSport, but concedes that individual errors lost them the match.

‘The one positive was that we never gave up and fought to the very last minute, individual errors hurt us on the day, but I have seen more positives out of this defeat than I have from some of our victories,’ he added.

Golden Arrows will be hoping to bounce back when they take on Bloemfontein Celtic on Saturday.

The match at the Princess Magogo Stadium kicks off at 15:30.
