SuperSport United winger George Lebese has admitted that he didn’t see his move to Matsatsantsa coming after the move only materialised on the last day of the transfer window.
Lebese left Mamelodi Sundowns on a six-month loan deal after struggling to make an impact at Chloorkop following his 2017 move from Kaizer Chiefs.
The winger had not made a single appearance for the Brazilians this campaign, as it was well-known that he was searching for the exit door with Cape Town City, Bidvest Wits and Chiefs all said to have shown interest.
Things, however, moved very quickly when SuperSport acted on deadline day to bring in the forward, who admitted on Monday that he is already feeling at home with his new club.
‘I still feel like I am at home, it is still Pretoria,’ Lebese said during a media open day on Monday morning.
‘I know most of the players. so it wasn’t difficult to adjust. The only thing I had to adjust to was how the coach wants me to play. but so far it was good,’ Lebese added.
After several months of no football Lebese was keen not to set any expectations and is seemingly happy to just be back on the pitch.
‘My target is to contribute to the team,’ he added.
‘I don’t want to put pressure on myself. If I contribute to the team and get the points I’ll be very happy.
‘I didn’t see it happening because it happened on the last day. It was a bit stressful. but I am glad that it finally happened. and I couldn’t have asked for anything else than to join such a great club,’ he admitted.
‘I got a call from my agent and he said there could be a potential move to another club. and when the switch happened I was relieved,’ he concluded.’
