Mamelodi Sundowns captain Mosa Lebusa says they will not undermine third-tier outfit Mathaithai FC when the two teams meet in the Nedbank Cup round of 16.

The Brazilians made their way to this stage of the competition after they secured a comfortable 4-0 victory over Richards Bay in their last- 32 clash at the Princess Magogo Stadium, through goals from Bradley Ralani, Rushine De Reuck, Pavol Safranko and Peter Shalulile.

Meanwhile, Mathaithai secured their place in the next round after defeating NC Pro’s 2-0 at the GWK Park in Kimberley thanks to goals from Teboho Modise and Sabata Manele.

Sundowns have now been drawn against Mathaithai in the round of 16 and Lebusa insists his side will not hold back against the third-tier side as they look to secure their place in the next round.

“We can’t complain because we’ve got a home game, that’s what we want because our schedule is very hectic, so it’s a little bit of an advantage. We are playing a team that we know little about, which makes them a bit dangerous for us, but we approach every game as we always do and we make sure that we win the game,” Lebusa told his club’s official website.

“We don’t want to undermine them, because they can pull a shocker on us and cause an upset for us if we undermine them.

“We will go to this game 100% focused, give a 100% performance and be professional. The approach is always the same, whether we are playing a team in the PSL or the lower-league teams, the main point is to win the game and we try by all means to win our games.

“Games are not the same; sometimes it’s hard but we push through, we make sure that we make our opponents tired and towards the end of this season it will come down to quality, and our quality will always pull us through the line.”

The Premier Soccer League will release the dates, kick-off times, venues and all details around the eight Nedbank Cup fixtures in due course.
