Mamelodi Sundowns defender Mosa Lebusa believes that his side are starting to hit their stride after a 2-1 win over Black Leopards took the Brazilians up to third in the Absa Premiership.
Downs coach Pitso Mosimane has on a number of occasions over the years spoken about his side’s slow start to campaigns.
This year it has been no different as Masadawana followed up their opening day win over SuperSport United with back-to-back draws with Chippa United and Cape Town City.
Mosimane’s men, though, have picked up three wins in a row in the league, with fixtures mixed in between MTN8 and Caf Champions League games, which has helped put them five points behind log leaders Chiefs with two games in hand.
Lebusa, speaking to SuperSport TV after receiving the Man of the Match award for his performance against Leopards, admitted that its been a tough start to the season.
‘It was very tough, it’s not easy coming to Thohoyandou to get away with three points. We knew what we had to do. We needed to score goals as early as possible,’ said Lebusa.
‘At half time the coach told us they gonna come guns blazing, [and] that’s what they did. They came at us but we stood our ground.
‘We work hard at training, to try not to concede goals. It’s unfortunate that we always concede but credit must be given to the guys, everyone put in a shift. I can’t ask for more. I think gradually we’re getting our feet, it’s not what we wanted [the start of the season] but slowly but surely we’re getting there,’ he concluded.
