Black Leopards manager Chief Thidiela has officially confirmed that the club have released Mamelodi Sundowns target Lesedi Kapinga.
Kapinga has been linked with a move to Chloorkop for a number of months now as his contract was running out with Leopards.
With the PSL season having to be postponed and subsequently restarted, Leopards have decided to prioritise their interests over the player with Thidiela stating that Kapinga’s exit would help Lidova Duvha focus better on the task at hand.
‘We can confirm that we have agreed for Lesedi Kapinga to go and join his new team to protect him and ourseves as well,’ Thidiela said in a video posted by the club.
‘We know currently the team is at the bottom and it’s a matter of life and death. So, sometimes when people know that a player is moving somewhere, it may be detrimental for him should he make a mistake.
‘Even if it’s genuine, you will find that other players might feel that “No, it’s because his future is secured somewhere” so we’d rather have him go start his new life and we wish him the best.’
