Orlando Pirates winger Thembinkhosi Lorch has admitted that his side had to bounced back with a win against AmaZulu after a run with 6-matches without a win.

The Bafana Bafana international played a starring role as the Buccaneers thumped Usuthu 4-1 at the Orlando Stadium on Saturday night

The result was timely considering that their title rivals Bidvest Wits and Mamelodi Sundowns dropped points in the 1-1 draw at the Bidvest Stadium and also came as a big confidence booster after six games without a win.

Lorch, who was named Man of the Match for his performance, was one of the stars as Pirates calved AmaZulu open down the right flan and the winger admitted that his side needed to bounce back while speaking to SuperSport TV after the match.

‘I think we played well. We showed character. From 1-0 down, we came back stronger. We scored three goals in the first half.

‘In the second half, the coach told us we must not be too happy because the game is still on. We have to push and try to score another goal.

‘We were concerned because in our previous game we lost against SuperSport [United] so we had to come back stronger and make our supporters happy and our families. It was important to win this game.

‘The coach told us to leave their centre-backs to play because they are not comfortable on the ball. If you can see the second goal it was a pressing trap on Gumede. I put the pressure on Gumede, then we got a goal,’ he concluded.
