Kaizer Chiefs interim coach Patrick Mabedi says he was pleased with Amakhosi’s overall performance against Ajax Cape Town at Cape Town Stadium on Saturday, writes DYLAN APPOLIS.

The Glamour Boys walked away with all three points after claiming a 2-1 victory over the Urban Warriors in their final Absa Premiership game of the season when goals from Bernard Parker and Joseph Molangoane cancelled out Mose Lebusa’s equaliser.

Mabedi says he was happy to see his side stick to their game plan, but he believes they should’ve scored more goals with the chances they created in the final third.

‘I also need to thank the players, they did exactly what we spoke about,’ Mabedi told the media.

‘I told them at half-time that they just need to be patient, Ajax are throwing everything and we just need to last. We need to make the right decision. They will leave three defenders and they will leave it open on the side.

‘We chose Shabba [Siphiwe Tshabalala] and [Joseph] Molangoane to open it wider and we capitalised on that.

‘Overall, I think we should have scored more goals.’

Amakhosi secured their place in next year’s Caf Confederation Cup after ending the 2017-18 Absa Premiership campaign in third place with 48 points.
