Maritzburg United midfielder Lebohang Maboe believes his teammate Siphesihle Ndlovu deserves to win the PSL Player of the Season award.

Ndlovu has been one of Maritzburg’s stand-out performers this campaign, having already made 31 appearances in all competitions while scoring five goals and assisting a further five in the process.

He also played his part in helping the Team of Choice reach the Nedbank Cup final after coming from behind to secure a 3-1 victory over Mamelodi Sundowns in the last four of the competition on Sunday.

Maboe feels the 21-year-old deserves to be nominated for PSL Player of the Season alongside Mamelodi Sundowns forward Percy Tau.

‘He [Ndlovu] has been [a] fantastic player, but it is the team ethics that makes him the player that he is,’ Maboe told KickOff.com.

‘Without us, he’d not have been the Ndlovu that he is, but he’s a great player and I’m not taking anything away from him.

‘I think he deserves to be a nominee for the PSL Player of the Season, he’s done very well this season. He’s really been phenomenal and he’s capable of taking it.’

Maritzburg United will next take Mamelodi Sundowns when the two sides meet in the Absa Premiership at the Harry Gwala Stadium on Wednesday, with kick-off set for 7:30pm.
