Kaizer Chiefs have confirmed that attacking midfielder Kabelo Mahlasela is close to making a full return to first-team training at Naturena.
The 26-year-old joined Amakhosi on a two-and-a-half-year deal at the beginning of the year, but sustained a meniscus tear a day after his official unveiling.
Amakhosi’s physiotherapist David Milner confirmed that Mahlasela is nearing a return to the first team as he continues to mend his way back to full fitness.
‘He’s doing very well,’ Milner told club’s official website. ‘Kabelo is playing in warm-up setups. He is participating in passing games, while continuing with running and physiotherapy exercises.
‘His progress is according to plan. Kabelo will play as an extra man next week and will then go on to participate in full training in two weeks’ time.’
Meanwhile, George Maluleka has been cleared fit and is taking part in full training after picking up an ankle injury, which kept him sidelined for the past month.
Kaizer Chiefs are set to host Baroka in a Nedbank Cup quarter-final clash at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Saturday, with kick-off set for 20:15.
