Free State Stars defender Makhehleni Makhaula says he feels happier now after making peace with Joseph Molangoane following his horror tackle on the Kaizer Chiefs attacker.

Makhaula challenged for the ball with Molangoane during Amakhosi’s 3-0 victory over Ea Lla Koto in the MTN8 quarter-final, but left his studs high and the wing in agony on the ground.

The Amakhosi midfielder received treatment on the pitch before he was was stretchered off the field and taken to hospital, although referee Victor Gomes did not issue Makhaula with any card.

However, the 28-year-old defender has since offered his apologies for the tackle that left Molangoane with a broken ankle, which could likely see the wing out of action for up to a year.

Makhaula revealed that he spoke to Molangoane about the incident and the pair has since apologised to each other for what had conspired during the cup clash.

‘I finally spoke to him,’ Makhaula told Kickoff.com.

‘He was the one who took the initiative to call me, you know, I learned that he’s been trying to get hold of me all along. But he finally reached me and he told me that he’s been looking for my number.

‘He told me that he saw that I wasn’t doing it on purpose, he told me not to stress because such things happen in football.

‘We ended up forgiving each other. We even agreed that the day we are going to play in Jozi, or me when I go home, we will meet maybe somewhere so we can talk face-to-face. That’s something that makes me happy because it was not my purpose.’
