Chippa United coach Dan Malesela has apologised to referee Kulasande Qongqo after questioning the official’s decision to the dismissal of Rhulani Manzini.

Chippa striker Rhulani Manzini was shown a red card in the first half for an off the ball incident during their 2-0 defeat against Bloemfontein Celtic on Sunday.

Malesela has sent his apologies to referee Qongqo, who officiated the match after viewing footage of the alleged red card offense and has admitted that he regrets his comments towards the referee.

‘I would like to apologize for my comments with regard to the send-off. I questioned the official ‘s judgment before I could see the footage,’ Malesela told the Chippa United website.

‘I have had an opportunity to review the footage of the game and it is clear that the officials were spot on , regarding the decision to send off the player.

‘I regret the comments made to the media after the game, and on behalf of Chippa United Football Club I send my unreserved apology to the match officials, football followers and the Premier Soccer League.

Malesela added speaking to chippautdfc.co.za that the would Club speak to the player Rhulani Manzini;

‘We will deal with the matter internally and professionally. As the Football Club, as part of our values we do not tolerate unsporting behavior on the pitch,’ He added.

‘We are quite aware of our standing and role in the society and we will give the matter the attention it deserves.’

Chippa United will next welcome Golden Arrows to the Sisa Dukashe Stadium when the two side’s meet in the Absa Premiership on Friday.

Kick-off has been set for 20:00.
