Kaizer Chiefs midfielder George Maluleka believes that his side still has a shot at winning this seasons league title, writes DEAN WORKMAN.
The Amakhosi sit in 7th place nine points off table toppers Bidvest Wits going into this Saturday’s clash against Polokwane City at the Peter Mokaba Stadium.
With the Clever Boys hosting defending champions Mamelodi Sundown on the same day, Chiefs will have the chance to edge closer to the title mix should they pick up three points against Rise and Shine.
Speaking to the media on Tuesday, Maluleka insisted that his side were fully focused on picking up the three points on what they know is a big weekend.
‘Ya, very important game (against Polokwane City). I think getting the three points would also mean we are still within the reach of the PSL title spot.
‘I think we owe to ourselves and our supporters to get the three points. Despite the couple of good performances, we have had in the last few weeks, we need three points and good results.’
The midfielder was then asked outright whether he thought Chiefs still have a realistic shot at the title.
‘Yes,’ was the emphatic response.
‘We still think we can do it. Its going to go down to the last day once again, but we believe we still there.
‘Why are we playing then (if we don’t believe we can do it), we believe that we still can and that its possible. Everyone else has been dropping points with draws, so we need to keep our eyes open and hopefully it will come good,’ concluded Maluleka.
