Kaizer Chiefs midfielder George Maluleka admits that he is in the dark regarding speculation that Scottish giants Rangers are interested in his services.
The 30-year-old is out of contract at the end of the current season and reports suggest that Steven Gerard’s side are monitoring the situation.
According to SunSport Ranger sent scouts to Cape Town Stadium for the game between Stellenbosch and Amakhosi last week, but Maluleka was an unused substitute.
Maluleka has been a key figure in the Amakhosi squad and had already managed to assists two goals and feature 13 times across all competitions so far this season.
The Amakhosi midfielder admits that he has heard about the rumours about a proposed move to Rangers but insists that he hasn’t heard anything official from the club.
‘I have been hearing rumours but to be honest I haven’t really heard anything [official],’ Maluleka told the media.
‘And if the club (Rangers) haven’t spoken to Kaizer Chiefs about it then there is no link at all.
‘So, I know nothing about that and I have a contract at Kaizer Chiefs and I am here to honour that.
‘Well, all the players work very hard and they work for a reason. So, if there is a link it means I have been doing something right.
‘I will always work hard regardless of anything [whether the move happens or not].’
With Maluleka’s contract running down he will be available to sign a pre-contract with anyone in January should Chiefs not come in with a renewal offer in time.
