The Premier Soccer League has announced Cape Town City midfielder Lebogang Manyama as the Player of the Month for February 2017.

The 26-year-old was honoured with the award, following his impressive performances against the likes of Ajax Cape Town, Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns last month.

Manyama says he feels honoured to have won his third award, but remains humble and credits the team for his achievement.

‘It is an honour to come here again, I could not have done this without my team Cape Town City FC,’ Manyama said.

‘I would be more happier if we won team of the season first before the player of the season award.’

The Bafana Bafana midfielder has urged teammate Aubrey Ngoma to be patient and professional in the wait for his first national team call-up.

‘I spoke to Aubrey and told him that his chance (with Bafana) will come. He is a big boy and he understands,’ he added.

Manyama believes that beating Mamelodi Sundowns in home and away fixtures this season has motivated and helped the team succeed so far.

‘I think what helped us beat Sundowns twice was the fact that we were not scared of them.’

The former Ajax Cape Town midfielder has so far scored 12 goals and assisted a further five from 28 appearances in all competitions this season.

The Players and Coach of the Month awards were selected by a panel of judges made up of members of the broadcast media and football analysts, and was convened by local coach Farouk Khan.
