Kaizer Chiefs attacking midfielder Lebogang Manyama has credited his teammates, coaching staff and the club’s supporters after winning the Goal of the Month award for February/March 2020.
The 29-year-old got the nod from football fans for his solitary goal that earned Kaizer Chiefs a 1-0 win in the Soweto Derby at the end of February.
His individual brilliance in the buildup to the goal helped him evade a couple of Pirates players before unleashing a powerful low drive from the edge of the 18-yard area into the net.
Manyama has been one of Amakhosi’s standout performers this season and already managed to bag seven goals and nine assists from 26 appearances across all competitions.
‘I would like to thank all the fans that voted for me for this goal,’ said Manyama on winning the award.
‘I think it’s fair to say that it will remain a memorable one because it’s my first debut goal [in the Soweto Derby] and the award just tops all of it off.
‘Thank you once again. I would also like to thank the coaching staff and the boys because a lot of planning was behind the goal and it came out exactly how we planned it. I was just the lucky one who got the chance to finish it off.
‘Thanks again Amakhosi, Amakhosi for life.’
