Cape Town City captain Lebogang Manyama has remained mum about what the future holds for him in the wake of recent developments linking him with a move to African Giants, Mamelodi Sundowns, writes MARSHALL GOUTS.
Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane made a startling claim a few weeks back, when he not only highlighted his admiration for the Bafana Bafana international, but also openly revealed his eagerness to bring the 26-year-old to the Chloorkop-based outfit.
Manyama, who has been integral to the Citizens’ title-aspirations in their debut campaign with 11 goals and two assists, cut a calm figure when discussing his future.
‘You know in football, when you do well there are obviously going to be talks,’ Manyama said at City’s press conference.
‘But, we know how to handle such things, we don’t think about the future, we think about now and what is going to happen tomorrow.
‘We cannot control such things because they are going to happen anyway. We remain calm and we continue doing what we’ve been doing the whole season,’ he added.
Manyama’s partner in crime, Aubrey Ngoma, also highlighted the fact that the duo recently signed long-term deals that will ensure they remain with the club until the 2020-21 season.
‘To add on what Lebo is saying, also you look at the situation that we just extended our stay at Cape Town City, so whoever talks about us leaving, they might be wanting to just start a rumour or whatever.
‘Our focus is still on Cape Town City, we have just committed our future to Cape Town City and we are not looking at anything past Cape Town City at the moment, we are focused on doing our job and continuing with our season,’ Ngoma concluded.
Cape Town City will lock horns with Bidvest Wits at the Cape Town Stadium, with kick-off set for 19:30.
