Orlando Pirates-bound midfielder Meshack Maphangule believes he deserves to play for the Buccaneers and will fight for a place in the first team.

The 26-year-old will join the Buccaneers on a three-year contract when his deal at Black Leopards expires in June.

Maphangule played his part in helping Lidoda Duvha gain promotion to the Absa Premiership after coming out on top in the promotion/relegation playoffs.

The Limpopo-born striker welcomes the challenge of fighting for a place in the Buccaneers’ first team ahead of the 2018-19 campaign.

‘I am not at all [scared of competition]. I know what I can do,’ Maphangule tells KickOff.com.

‘I believe in competition. It will push me to give my best. I like competition because it also gives you a chance to improve your game and not relax.

‘I know I am a good player and I deserve to play for Orlando Pirates.

‘The first thing to do is to settle down and fight for the jersey. Then everything will follow after that.’
