Maritzburg United confirmed that the club have rewarded head coach Eric Tinkler with a new contract after he saved them from relegation.
Tinkler has put pen to paper on a two-year contract with the Team of Choice since helping to save United from relegation via the PSL playoffs.
The Team of Choice won all four of their matches in the playoffs against Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila and Royal Eagles.
Tinkler insists that he will not make many changes to his squad, but will find it hard to replace the likes of Fortune Makaringe and Siphesihle Ndlovu, who both joined Orlando Pirates.
‘On the field of play, let’s not look to make massive changes, because I think that’s just going to confuse everyone. I want to try and rebuild what was good, what they know, and bring a positive vibe to training and to the club,’ Tinkler said.
After rewarding Tinkler with a new deal, the club chairman, Farook Kadodia, says he is confident he is the right man to lead the team during the 2019-20 season.
‘There seems to be a real synergy between the coach and Maritzburg United, and we are confident that he is the right man to take us forward and get us back where we want to be, challenging for a position in the top eight as a minimum,’ Kadodia said.
