Matsatsantsa were on the back foot early in the game when Maritzburg’s talisman Kurt Lentjies fired in a fantastic goal.
The Team of Choice would go into the break 1-0 up, but SuperSport would come storming back in the 2nd half with a four-goal blitz.
Masango was the destroyer-in-chief with two goals, before Kingston Nkhatha and Jeremy Brockie rounded off the scoring to seal a comfortable 4-1 win at the Lucas Moripe Stadium.
The former Kaizer Chiefs star believed that his team’s hard work warranted their victory on the night.
‘It all boils down to a team effort. Everyone put in a hard shift so we are deserved winners,’ Masango said after the game.
He also gave special praise to his coach Stuart Baxter who signed him from Danish League outfit Randers.
‘It’s not only about my ability. The coach has faith in me, so do my teammates and the club. I’m grateful for the opportunity they have given me to showcase my talent,’ he added.
Masango praised his team’s fighting spirit, especially in the second half after they came back from a one-goal deficit.
‘Going back to the game, it was a much better second half. Even though we gave them an early lead, we fought back hard. Everyone can score at any given time and that’s great for the club,’ the Bafana Bafana international said.
The former Randers attacker was optimistic about his future at the club and was happy that his team could get the desirable result on the night.
‘Maybe one day I’ll get a hat-trick. The lads put in a hard shift and we are very grateful for the three points.’ he concluded.
SuperSport will now travel to the Makhulong Stadium on Saturday to face Highlands Park.
Kick-off is scheduled for 20:15.
