Tsepo Masilela has revealed his biggest worry at Kaizer Chiefs and it doesn’t concern his recent lack of game time owing to injuries.
The 32-year-old defender is currently on the road to recovery, with Philani Zulu, Sibusiso Khumalo and Siphosakhe Ntiya-Ntiya deputising for the former Bafana Bafana international.
When asked about his lack of game time under Steve Komphela this season, Masilela suggested that it didn’t bother him, and instead switched his attention to Chiefs’ three-year wait for silverware.
‘Competition has always been there throughout my career, it is not something new. He [Zulu] has done well and obviously, you still have Sibusiso Khumalo who can play that position and he has been fit, it isn’t only about Zulu, it’s Khumalo and the young boy, Ntiya-Ntiya.
‘So, competition has always been there. I just want to be fit and available for selection and we will see from there.
‘It doesn’t worry me at all; what worries me is that we haven’t won a trophy for the past two seasons. I am one person [where] I am at the age where I put the team first. If Zulu does well and we win trophies, we are all happy, the fans are happy. So, I am not really worried about [that],’ he concluded.
