Platinum Stars midfielder Solomon Mathe says his side are going to be very competitive throughout the second half of the Absa Premiership season.
Dikwena are currently placed 13th on the Absa Premiership standings with 14 points, having won just three out of 14 matches so far this season.
Mathe says he is adamant his side will improve their performances ahead of the second half of the 2016-17 Absa Premiership season.
‘We didn’t play well in the first round but towards the end of December, we showed some improvements. If we can produce such kind of performances, I think we are going to do well. We are going to be very competitive,’ Mathe told the Platinum Stars website.
‘Since we came back in January, I look at the guys and I see that everyone is willing to fight for the team. Everyone is pushing hard at training.’
The 36-year-old says his side has been working hard during training in preparation for the season and the opening Absa Premiership match against the Buccaneers on Wednesday.
‘We play home and we haven’t been doing well at home so we have to win at all costs. We are looking forward to the game. We need the supporters to come in numbers,’ he added.
‘We don’t want to disappoint them From the friendly matches we have been playing I can say the team is ready. The guys are looking forward to playing.
‘First round, some guys didn’t have competition but now we all know that the moment you slip up, somebody is ready to take your place. Everyone wants to play.’
Platinum Stars will be hoping to rediscover their form when they welcome Orlando Pirates in the Absa Premiership on Wednesday.
The match at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium kicks off at 19:30.
