Eric Mathoho has warned Kaizer Chiefs that Bloemfontein Celtic will be a tough assignment as they are undefeated in their last five Absa Premiership matches.
The Glamour Boys confirmed that Mathoho is available for selection after serving a two-match ban after receiving his marching orders during their 3-2 victory over rivals Orlando Pirates in the league on 9 November.
Amakhosi will head into this encounter on a seven-game winning run in the league, while Celtic are unbeaten in their last five league matches.
Chiefs currently have a 10-point lead at the top of the league standings with 31 points from 12 games, while Celtic are in fifth place with 17 points from 12 matches played so far this season.
Mathoho admits that he has been impressed by Siyabonga Ngezana’s recent performance after scoring the opening goal in their 4-0 victory over Stellenbosch FC last week.
‘I felt Siyabonga Ngezana had a really good game against Stellenbosh,’ Mathoho told his club’s official website.
‘Now it’s the coach’s decision as to who will start. I was very impressed by him and the way he played scoring a goal and his overall performance, I must compliment him as a young player, he did very well,’ he says.
The veteran defender urged his side to remain focused and put all their efforts into winning the game and collecting all three points.
‘It’s not going to be easy. They are a good team with good players, but every game is tough, and we have to focus and put all our efforts into winning the game,’ he added.
‘We have two matches left for the year and if we can win them, the festive break will be a happy one for us. It is going to take a lot of hard work for us to win the points, we ready for the challenge.’
The match at the Moses Mabhida Stadium kicks off at 8:15pm.
