Kaizer Chiefs have confirmed that defender Eric Mathoho has returned to the squad and will be available for their Absa Premiership clash with Bloemfontein Celtic.
The 29-year-old is available for selection after serving a two-match ban.
Mathoho was sent off after a quarrel between players in Chiefs’ 3-2 win over rivals Orlando Pirates in their league clash at the FNB Stadium on 9 November.
The Limpopo-born defender subsequently missed Chiefs’ Telkom Knockout semi-final match defeat by Maritzburg United and their 4-0 league win over Stellenbosch FC.
Having been on the sidelines for two games, Mathoho is relishing the chance to face his former club in Durban on Saturday.
‘It’s nice to play against Celtic. Every time I play against them, I enjoy it and it brings back memories and shows me how far I have come. I started there and now I am at Chiefs, the biggest team in the country,’ Mathoho told his club’s official website.
‘I started out there when I was still young and did my job. I have now moved on to the next level in my career. When I am on the field all that is to one side I am now only focused on helping my current club, which is Chiefs, win.’
The match at the Moses Mabhida Stadium is scheduled to kick off at 8:15pm.
