Newly-signed Orlando Pirates striker was a wanted man by clubs across Africa and Europe prior to joining the club, according to administrative chief Floyd Mbele.
The Soweto giants confirmed the signing of the reigning Zambian Player of the Year on Monday. Mbele, suggested that the arrival of Mulenga is a massive coup for the club, with the striker having rejected offers from African giants Raja Casablanca as well as clubs abroad.
‘Mulenga was a wanted man. He was wanted across the continent by some of Africa’s giants such as Raja Casablanca,’ he told SoccerLaduma.
‘In Europe we know there are French-based clubs that were vying for his signature.
‘So it makes it even more special that he chose to play his football at Orlando Pirates. For those who still need more confirmation about the kind of player he is, just search some of his videos on YouTube to see the kind of calls he has scored..
‘We are happy with the direction of the club and the players that have been brought on will add to our strength. We will always be intentional about who we sign,’ he concluded.
Pirates were handed a big blow in their bid to win the title as they were defeated 3-0 by Ajax Cape Town on Wednesday night at the Cape Town Stadium.
