Orlando Pirates winger Luvuyo Memela believes his side did well to execute their game plan against Mamelodi Sundowns at Loftus Stadium.
The 30-year-old scored his third goal in his last two games to help Pirates claim a 3-1 victory over Sundowns on Saturday.
Speaking after the game, Memela praised his teammates on their ‘wonderful’ performance against Pitso Mosimane’s side.
‘This was a good win for us,’ Memela told his clubs official website.
‘We came into this match with a plan and I think we executed that plan fairly well. I would like to congratulate the whole team for this wonderful effort because this win couldn’t have been achieved without us working together as a team.
‘On a personal level, I am happy to be on the score sheet again but more so that my contribution has assisted the team to record another important win. This was by no means an easy game – Sundowns were tough, they kept us on our toes for the whole match but like I said earlier, fortunately we stuck to our game plan and got the desired result.’
The former Chippa United winger is hoping he can continue his current scoring form to help Pirates win more games and climb even further up the Absa Premiership table.
‘Look, all players want to play at their best at all times but it’s not always possible,’ he added.
‘I would like to continue scoring like I have in the last two matches but the most important thing for me right now is to see us winning games and moving up the log table. If we can continue doing this then I am happy….more so than scoring.’
Orlando Pirates will next welcome Polokwane City to the Orlando Stadium on Saturday, with kick-off set for 20:15.
