Bidvest Wits edged Chippa United 1-0 on Tuesday courtesy of a single Gabadinho Mhango strike.
The match, being played at the Dobsonville Stadium due to the unrest at Wits University, was short of chances in the first half with the most notable effort coming from new Chilli Boy Katlego Mashego.
The confirmation of Mashego’s move to Chippa was only confirmed today but the veteran forward was asked to start by coach Dan Malesela. Mashego almost wrote the dream script but failed to beat Darren Keet after an error by Thulani Hlatshwayo.
Mhango squandered a chance to put his side ahead before half time but nine minutes in the second period he made no mistake scoring what would be the game’s only goal.
The win lifts Wits to the top of the table heading into the international break.
