Orlando Pirates forward Gabadinho Mhango insists that the team adapted quickly to Josef Zinnbauer’s new system to snatch all three points from Mamelodi Sundowns.
Mhango scored the only goal of the game to guide the Soweto giants to a narrow 1-0 victory over Pitso Mosimane’s side at the Orlando Stadium on Wednesday evening.
The Buccaneers have now moved up to fifth position in the Absa Premiership standings, with 27 points from 17 games, trailing log-leaders Kaizer Chiefs by 14 points.
Mhango, who was named Man of the Match, will be hoping his side can continue their current form as they continue to learn Zinnbauer’s new coaching methods.
‘I thank God, my teammates, the Orlando Pirates supporters. It’s something that we planned from training because everybody was putting 150% effort, congrats to the team,’ Mhango told SuperSport TV after the game.
‘It’s something that he came with … new system, a new plan … we just adapted quickly.
‘The team we know what we need because we have been suffering but now we’re trying our best, we want to catch up with … up there.
‘Credit to the fans for coming in numbers, giving the support, it’s a blessing to us as players.’
