Ernst Middendorp acknowledged that Kaizer Chiefs need to work on their finishing following their inability to add to their solitary strike in the 1-0 victory against SuperSport United.

Middendorp got off to a winning start in his second spell at Amakhosi when George Maluleka netted the only goal of the game at the Mbombela stadium to down Matsatsantsa.

The Soweto giants dominated the clash for large spells of the clash, but were let down by some wasteful finishing from the likes of Khama Billiat and Leonardo Castro, with the latter proving particularly improvident.

Middendorp admitted that he has seen traces of poor finishing, particularly in training. However, the German mentor simply put it down to players lacking confidence in front of goal.

‘I see it in the training sessions when you normally can control the ball, easily do the right stuff and find the finishing.

‘Crossing the ball to the centre when there’s nobody. This is something to do with confidence.

‘With every experience of getting the three points and getting a better position in the league it will get better, I’m sure,’ he concluded.
