Kaizer Chiefs coach Ernst Middendorp has confirmed that goalkeeper Daniel Akpeyi will start against Bloemfontein Celtic ahead of Itumeleng Khune.
The Glamour Boys are set to welcome Phunya Sele Sele to the Moses Mabhida Stadium when the two sides square off in the Absa Premiership on Saturday evening.
Amakhosi will head into this encounter on a seven-game winning run in the league, while Celtic are unbeaten in their last five league encounters.
The German manager insists that the club’s number one shot-stopper is not yet ready to compete as he believes that Akpeyi is best prepared for the upcoming fixture.
‘I am so happy that…I was really irritated and confused that no one is asking about Khune,’ Middendorp told the media.
‘As I said, he is not injured, he is in training now. We have to make a decision about who now from a point of competitiveness is best prepared for this game we have on Saturday evening.
‘It is Daniel Akpeyi and it is he who will play. The second best prepared at the moment is Bruce Bvuma and he will be the second goalkeeper.’
The match at the Moses Mabhida Stadium kicks off at 8:15.
