Kaizer Chiefs coach Ernst Middendorp says it’s possible that forward Khama Billiat could return to action in the next couple of weeks but insists he won’t rush back the Zimbabwean.
Billiat has been out of action for Amakhosi since mid-December having not played a single minute in 2020.
The forward, of course, was caught in a club-vs-country row over his fitness towards the end of last year and the over-exertion had him sitting on the sidelines for the past few weeks.
The German coach has now revealed that the player will undergo a fitness test ahead of their first round of the Nedbank Cup against Royal Eagles on 8 February, but he will not be rushed back into the team.
‘Khama, in mid-December we took him out to strengthen him. His last game was on December 22 in Maritzburg and after that we took him out,’ Middendorp said.
‘It can be possible that we get him right in the next two weeks but if we need more time, then we will do that.’
With Chiefs still flying high at the top of the Absa Premiership, Billiat’s return could come as a massive boost heading into the business end of the campaign.
