Kaizer Chiefs coach Ernst Middendorp insists his side are raring to go ahead of their Absa Premiership encounter with Bidvest Wits on Wednesday.
The Soweto giants will resume their campaign sitting in first place in the league standings – with 48 points from 22 matches played so far this season.
Meanwhile, Gavin Hunt’s side currently occupies sixth place on the log with 38 points from 21 games, trailing Amakhosi by 10 points.
Middendorp says all his players are available for the encounter, and insists Amakhosi are well prepared for a wounded Wits side.
‘All of us, the technical team and especially the players are eager to get the competitive season going. We are very happy and, hopefully, well prepared to start again on Wednesday against Wits,’ Middendorp said in the buildup to the midweek fixture.
‘At the beginning of July I was aware about it [the season restart]. We approached our preparation in a way that would see us gradually build up and have a focus point, which was 14 August. We tried to provide the players with the right basics and fundamentals over six weeks. Starting two days earlier than originally planned is not a big deal. The players have worked hard and everybody is available.’
