Kaizer Chiefs coach Ernst Middendorp is hopeful that Reeve Frosler and Kearyn Baccus will return from injury to give his side another dimension against old foes Orlando Pirates on Saturday.
The Soweto giants meet for the second time in seven days, after Chiefs knocked out Pirates via a penalty shootout at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
The teams will now face off at the FNB Stadium on Saturday in an Absa Premiership encounter.
Speaking after the TKO match, the German coach revealed he is hopeful that the duo can recover in time to take part in the second Soweto derby of the season.
‘There are a number of players that we are looking at and targeting to have back for selection again next weekend, Reeve Frosler and Kearyn Baccus – that gives us a little bit of a different dimension. But it is all in the planning so we can execute it adequately,’ Middendorp told reporters post-match.
Midfielder Baccus has impressed many since his arrival at Naturena but has been out since before the game against Mamelodi Sundowns, while Frosler picked up an injury in that 2-0 win.
Both are expected to miss the midweek clash with Chippa United but look to be in contention for debuts in a Soweto derby come Saturday.
